My radio will switch on and give all the digital readouts, but the aerial does not come up.
Is there a relay in the system that might be stuck closed, or has the motor packed up(which nobody can tell DOH)

Sounds like there's no power getting to the aerial motor. Has the aerial power wire been connected to the rear of the radio correctly? Has the wire between the radio and the aerial been disconnected/damaged somewhere? Check if there's power at the aerial end of the power wire. If there's no power the fault is in the wiring; if there IS power at the aerial end then the aerial motor is shot. Trying to fix it is an exercise in frustration (ask how I know this!) The simplest remedy is to get another aerial assembly, Maplins do a generic power aerial for about 19 pounds.

That's grammar! Take a thousand lines!

As I have posted on the other thread to this I have an aerial with a duff cord which I don't need.

PS. I am an extreme pedant, as if you didn't already know!
