Hi guys, I've got a 2002 2.2tid with what I suspect is a worn oil pump. Have changed the sensor, with no luck, and am pretty sure its the pump as you can hear the engine quieten when the oil light goes out. Question is is it possible to replace the oil pump with the engine in, take off the ancillaries and the timing cover to get to it? Or would it be easier to stick another engine in. P.s. have changed the oil, and the oil light stays on far too long now, steadily getting worse. No I'm not driving it.Your thoughts please, Mick

foxtein,

The oil pump can be changed fairly easily with the engine in situ from the O/S wheel arch. Auxilliary belt off, crank pulley off, big circlip pliers to take off the pump cover. This gives access to the inner and outer rotors. Check the clearance with feeler gauge.

Haynes has the full details.
