MY04 95 Estate Rear Head Restraints.

Hello All,

I am trying to get a new childs car seat to fit in my 95 Estate but all of the ones I have tried seem to fall foul of the rear head restraints in that the head restraint will not extend high enough to allow to top of the car seat to fit underneath the lower edge of the restraint. I have tried to remove the restraint but it does not seem to be "customer removable". With the restraint in it's lowest position it forces the back of the child seat away from the seat back and does not therefore allow the child seat to fit in a safe manner. The child seat I am trying to get to fit is a Maxi Cosi Rodi XP for ages 4-11. The SAAB brand seat seems to be a similar design so could possibly suffer from the same problem. (Has anyone got one of these, if so did it fit OK?)

Has anyone come up against this problem ? and does anyone have any advice on how to remove or extend the rear head restraint ?

Best Regards,

Richard.

There is one catch that you press for the normal raising and lowering and a smaller one on the other side that needs to be pressed as well to fully remove the head restraint. Saab say this one needs a screwdriver to be poked in, but I think they are the same as the front and I did that with a finger nail.

Just as an after thought... I had the same problem with my car seat. However, I wanted to leave it in just in case the ankle snapper wasn't on board, but guests were. All I did was raise the head rest, push the baby seat into place and then push the head rest down again over the lip of the baby seat. It seemed to work fine for me. Also it didn't obstruct my view. It aslo doesn't bother the little lad. However, it is going to be some time before he reaches the top of that seat!! He is only 14 months.
