i would start by cleaning the egr mate make sure the valve moves freely and seat well while your at it clean the egr intake tract also along with the throttle body


if that doest cure it im selling one 55quid all in posted reconned and cleaned ready to go if ya stuck

 

Thanks for that Nat - I'll certainly start with what you suggest. I've seen the cleaning guides on here.

I've noticed that the fitted EGR is a Pierburg - does anyone know if that is original equipment?

 

check the boost hose clips are tight & check the pipes for splits,that can cause p2279

Update : EGR & Throttle Body given a thorough clean, boost hose checked - all secure, EML cleared, car now running as it should.
