Following on from my recent gearbox woes, the N/S inner gaiter had to be changed a week later after it was damaged during the initial surgery. Since then the car has felt "thrumy" at speed and slightly more so under power - if you declutch at speed it is still there and can be felt through the steering, pedals and bum, even SWMBO can feel it!. I understand they removed the outer joint to change the inner gaiter and I wonder if it went back in the same alignment, my Haynes book says you must mark the joint and shaft before disassembly to ensure correct refitting. Before I have a go at the Indie about getting it fixed(they tried to patch the gaiter initially and probably didn't have a new one in stock and thought I wouldn't find it, then the outer gaiter was loose which I fixed and I found the rear engine mount completely loose as well ) can wrong alignment be done and what should I look for. I am taking it back but want my head straight before I do. I have driven round in circles to test the joints and that is fine and the wheel bearings seem ok - hope it's not the box as I am having a few confidence issues after the other little faults
The car was lovely and smooth before all this and only started feeling harsh after the driveshaft work - any thoughts?
