its standard tyres are 195 65 r 15 but id like to fit 205 r 15 like on the full blown 2.3 turbo. Are the wheels different between the two models ?

hi, if you have the stock wheels this should be no worries. I've run 195 or 205 HR60x15's on my two 1992 9000CDT's, but only for a combined 390,000 miles...

Ditto, no problems (Saab Ronal 5-spoke wheels)

The factory tyres sizes for the UK were 195/65-15, 206/60-15 or 205/55-16. The remaining question is the wheel rim width. Have you got steel or alloy wheels? I seem to recall that the 15" and 16" alloy wheels are the same width. I think that the steel wheels may be narrower.
