Ash,

They are the wheels that pretty much every 9000 owner would like to get their mitts on- a 17" version of the Super Aeros as fitted to 9000 Aeros.

The car was a "protoype" high performance (circa 300hp IIRC?) version of the 9000 shown by Saab that sadly never made it to the production line.

Those of us with sharp eyes will have noticed that the cars shown in the two hyperlinks earlier in this thread look the same - but I notice the "turbo" badge on the grill is on different sides (and still reads "turbo", so one isn't a mirror image of the other). So were there a number of these cars - and where are they now??

The 1st picture has been flipped and had the badges re added to give it a UK look (RHD).

There are 4 main telling items:-

1. The turbo badge is on the wrong side of the grill
2. There is no fuel filler flap!
3. There is an Aerial mast visible on the wrong rear wing.
4. The rear wiper is parked on the wrong side of the rear screen

Hope that helps.

That style of wheel is certainly the best for a 9000 (IMHO) - perchance there are wheel manufacturers listening in who may want to meet this obvious demand for 17inch versions?

Shame that car didn't make it into production - looked awesome.

It did..

It was detuned, lost the UV headlights, saline pre heater store, the wheels downsized to 16", and brakes.

Other than that, much remain such as Skirts, spoilers, seats, Trionic, low emission engine and wheel style etc.

It would become known as the Saab 9000 CS Aero...
