As the title says, what does everyone do for a living?

I'll start it off,

I work for an aerospace firm called cav aerospace in a place called consett not far from Newcastle upon Tyne, I set up long beds (upto 80 ft long) for cnc milling machines that mill the insides of plane wings. It can be a pretty boring job sometimes but its permenant and it pays the bills better than most places round here. ?

Trying to get an international commissioning job but still looking for vacancies

Kevgib sorry if I offended you & no you won't get banned for that
I have been looking at building an optical interface but due to the ic's being rebranded modifying existing devices isn't as easy as i had hoped and I haven't got time to design and build from scratch

I'm retired armed forces, full career man. Did nothing for a couple of years when I came out just to chill and settle back into normal life. I'm now a courier, sorry! a genuine white van man for local government and I love it. Keeps me busy and gives me some pocket money.

I meant to add a smiley as was meant to be a bit tongue and cheek......

I'll have a new look at the interface for testing the optics, so far the issue I've had is I was using an 80/20 power fibre tap that caused the AMP1 to stop working, so was looking at electical optical interface but crashed the car soon after....:( Have an EHU and ICM set in garage and I'll return to this some day// as I have a garage full of other gear - Multimode SFP+ Fibre Channel capable. Got as far as reading frame headers and some APIs, but alas I have an '08 now so no more pen-top loops keeping things going.. Need to make my fortune elsewhere..

I have the most unskilled job here upto now. Haha.

Ottoman I would love your job!

Where you from vingster? Fancy giving me a job on the assembly line? Haha.

I used to build caterpillar dumper trucks but unfortunately got paid off from there. :-( cant complain too much really I only work 14 daysba month in my job. Better pay than most places in the area too!
