Wanting to replace the jalousie (shifter guide).

The plate w/ the 'W' button only comes up about 1/2 inch, NEED to undo the W button wires but I can not even see them.

The button removes by pushing it up from the backside but wires must come off first.

Any tips on removal of broken off jalousie pieces would be helpful too. I fear there are some in the front guide channel.

Photos/videos show being able to pull up the plate w/ the button a couple inches but mine does NOT, hence my post here.

Not enough room to get at the wires to cut them. Found a photo, look to be soldered rather than slip on.

Just like Caps lock and Num lock, some keyboards have a Windows lock key which toggles the Windows key on and off. If your Windows key is not working, check your keyboard for this key and make sure it is not turned on

I did my 2000 9-5 a few years ago and I have the W button but I can't remember how I got it disconnected. If you cut the zip tie down under, that will probably give you the slack you need. Mechanics must have a way of getting it out. I think to remove broken pieces, just move the shifter to both extremes.
