i recently replaced brush and regulator on alternator, since when all lights,dash,h/lights etc.are what can only be described as pulsating and voltage goes from 14.4 to 14.8 when running/14.8 to 15.1 when idling. is this faulty regulator and am i liable to cook battery?

I'm pretty sure the max charging voltage should be around 14.5v. I would say 15.1v is too high and will boil your battery quite quickly. If the voltage regulator isn't at the root of the problem I'd be surprised, unless the battery is already dry....Just a thought.

I would go along with Nick, my voltage runs between 13.9 and 14.2 with no auxilliary stuff on, and with lights, blowers or whatever running, goes down to around 13.6 - 13.8. From past threads, I gather this to be about right.
