I'll be doing some cylinder head work soon on my 9000 16 valve Turbo, so I'll need to buy a valve spring compressor.

The prices and specifications vary widely and I don't know which type I need. Can anyone tell me what size or type they use?

The cheap one may not reach recessed springs on overhead cam engines. Would be OK on older engines like BMC A series where the springs stick up above the surface of the cylinder head..

The middle one will probably be OK if the head diameter is the right size to fit into the follower recess and also over the valve bits.

The expensive one has some interchangeable bits to cover most options.

Has anyone used the £20 one (successfully)?

I don't want to spend £35 if £20 will do.
