Has anyone tried the modification being sold on ebay for about £5.00? Apparently it is a resistor connected in series between a sensor and the ECU. Does anyone know the value of the resistor and which sensor is being used? Does it work and are there any problems associated with this modification?

It's been discussed before.
But here goes..

The resistor simply tells the ECU the engine is always cold, this enables the cold start enrichment program.

Downsides:
Huge increases in fuel consumption
Overfueling, which can lead to engine failure due to the bore lubrication being washed away by an excess of petrol..

The device goes between the manifold absolute pressure sensor (MAP) and the ECU.

The MAP sensor provides the ECU with a signal, voltage proportional to pressure.

I believe this device just reduces the voltage seen by the ECU, thus "fooling" the ECU into thinking it has less boost than actual.

I would not use one of these devices. Why hack one of the best motor controllers, when
it can be done safely with new software.

If it sounds too good to be true, then it almost certainly is

but its of no use to cars with a turbo so ive heard all so plug foul up possible bore washing ?
