Since the Compressor on the stock turbo of the B235R Is relatively small and runs out of huff around 300hp, what are some of the common upgrade you folks do? Is the turbo standard T3 flange? I am looking at a turbo with 50 a/r, .57 trim compressor. Much higher CFM than the stock with mid size a/r so spool should be affected too much(it's a bb center section turbo too). I would likely add custom flange for external wastegate, or maybe convert to internal.

Firstly no, it is NOT the T3 flange. It's the mitsubishi style flange.

However if you get a different exhaust manifold, like the one sold by Taliafferro Saab, you can order either style of flange.

Also you can get a different turbo. Here are some common choices:

Mitsu. TD04HL-18T: Good for about 350-380 hp

Mitsu. TD04HL-19T: Good for about 370-390 hp

MapTun has a GT30 with a special Mitsu style flange. If you get a manifold with a custom flange and downpipe, nearly any internally wastegated turbo will bolt up.

Garrett. GT30BB: Good for about 550 hp.

Garrett. GT32BB: Good for about 420 hp.

Garrett. GT28RS: Good for about 380 hp.
(The GT28RS is a personal fave, and very popular. It's twin ball bearing, and uses a very small, but high flowing, compressor. It's spools very very quickly, and is good for over 350 hp.)

If you do a search on this you may find some other posts. One with a very long list of Garrett GT series turbos.
