Taking the monster out to fill her up with some optimax so I can take her to get the gearbox fixed tomorrow..
limp home mode /TCS light on/check engine light on

went to fill her up

boy is she fast ..only 1 bar of boost but throttle response instantaneos hopefully with all my fiddling about I have triggered the fault that has been lurking and holding the horsepower back...

Umm does monster refer to the car's performance or the bill so far

both...
synchro/4th gear /bearing and sundries..
has not looked at the tcs prob yet
altho fault codes say its throttle position sensor dead short ...
I feel a tcs rip-out coming on !!

The same happened to me a couple of weeks ago but due to a bent throttle arm it wouldn't engage limp home mode. Took me a while to get to the garage...sometimes travelling only feet at a time!!

However, the new throttle position sensor has greatly improved throttle response and accuracy. Maybe these things just wear out gradually over time.

Still, this is only the second TCS fault in three years, the other being the solenoid and one-way valve, so I guess that isn't too bad...touch wood...
