Hi all,

I've a few track based Q's can you advise?

Just got my new 91 2.3T 9k Carlsson back on the road with. The "Knackered Timing belt" which turned out to be a pulley was a result and its now Mot'd

My aim with this Carly is to track prep it but keep it road legal, do some trackdays in it and use it to tow my bike, and maybe some more ring laps

How much Stripping/Poly/Stiffening/etc can I go with and still have a tolerable, if not quiet, road car? Not overly worried by NVH so much as keeping a modicum of useability for varied traffic conditions.

Is a cage viable on the road or is it a safety risk without a lid?

Any other thoughts, do's and donts, bad experiences?

Cheers

Dave

You can use a cage if you also get a new seat with some real harnesses. That way you will not be able to hit your head on the cage. New seats will also save a lot of weight.
The new magazine "Retro Cars" recently did a feature on stripping a Volvo 245. Starting weight was 1500kg, and they ended up with 1198kg!!
