Sorry if this has been previously covered

What is the likely cost of trackday insurance for the car and where can I get it

I'd like to weigh up all the costs, thanks Chris

I paid £107 last year for my trackday insurance. As with all insurance the risk is assessed on a number of variables - so costs may differ.

For peace of mind I say it was worth it. Having said that, I was worried about pranging my car - but once you have been out with an instructor (they are onhand all day and at no additional cost at the Saabscene Trackday 2004 (SSc TD04) event) you will be getting to speeds in excess of normal (legal) motorway speeds on a tight track 1.07 miles long that's a great deal of fun and far safer than driving on normal roads

I have some trackday insurance info somewhere - otherwise do a search of the performance saab forum for around May 2003 for info.

Insurance is not obligatory, but it is insurance. The trackday is a special event - and if you think about it, it is quite easy to spend that much in one evening "going out" - this way you get a whole day's fun out of it.

Start saving now - little bit each month - and you won't notice it.

Otherwise, just come along for passenger rides in other peoples Saabs ...but I guarantee you will kick yourself if you don't drive on the track.

Yes, there is a thread, I can't remember it exactly but it did list details.

I pay £60 per track day with my current insurers (Greenlight), but then again they're a specialist tuned car brokers.

IIRC the amount you pay to insure on the day is linked to how much cover you want... so /john's figure might well have been for complete replacement value.

Yes, my £107 was to replace ten grands worth of car. ...it has depreciated since then!

I must check my insurer as I am with a performance specialist insurer, too.
