Probably not- you wouldn't really go the hassle and expense of just replacing the timing chain tensioner and not the rest of it... it sounds more like you've had the auxilliary drivebelt tensioner replaced.

At 100k, I wouldn't worry about the timing chain myself. Circa 120-140k is about the going rate- but as long as it's not rattling you're OK.

And don't worry, I'm a relative engine "virgin" too...
