I know I'm going over old ground here but...
My car is a 97 2.3 lpt auto.
79,000 miles and full dealer history. (head gasket replaced last year)
there's a rattling noise started at the top of the engine which sounds like the middle (?)
When the car's hot ans ticking over in park, it can sound like a "tinny" rattle.
When cold its a "rumbly " rattle.
Is it worth getting the oil flushed and renewed first to see if that would shift any sludged up galleries ?

Seems low milage for the chain to go.
I'd have thought being an auto might have been less stress on the engine as the torque convertor
lessens the "jerkiness" under load (an old wifies tale ?)

I suppose the oil change can't make anything worse and I can ask the dealer for their opinion.

Can anyone recommend a flush to use ?

As it has a full dealer history, they should have used proper oil, so there won't be anything to flush. Why not just drive around to the dealer and ask them to listen to it and give you an opinion?

Got the car back today.
Know what it was ?

The blinking DI cassette was loose....

I feel a bit daft but very relieved as we're off to a cottage by Castle Brodie next week.
