is there really any benfit of allowing your car to idle for a minute before you switch off.
my handbook says do not blip the throttle before you switch off. but nothing about doing it to let the turbo cool off.

You only need to let the engine run at idle for 1-2 minutes if you have been pushing you car hard just beforehand, otherwise it should be OK to turn the engine off.

As I recall, for the most part you'll be generally fine but it's advisable to tick over 15 - 20 seconds or so to be completely on the safe side.

If you've been giving it lots of
(especially high speed runs for a long while, eg motorways, or a decent cross country trip), then a minute should be plenty sufficient unless you've not stopped for four hours or so of high revs/speed, in which case a couple of mins would be a good idea.
