Hi my 98MY 9.5 was running normally when it cut out, on trying to restart there were four ticking noises from somewhere behind the instruments, the engine turns over freely but there appears to be no fuel reaching the cylinders . Help ! A reconditioned throttle body was recently fitted but that was fine and the car started ok.

Sounds DI to me (from my experience of DI failure, but no real 'techy' knowledge). Probably best not to try starting it any more as this can kill the cat, again, learnt from experience ;-(

Open the bonnet and 'sniff' the DI pack running accross the top of the engine. If it smells like burnt circuit board then that would again support the dead DI theory.

Sorted the problem, the ticking behind the instruments took me to the limp home solenoid, so following the instructions on another posting I clicked the cogs anticlockwise, took out fuse 17 for a bit, replaced it----- Hey Sven it started first time ! car is transformed with the new throttle body(reconditioned) from a guy in Ilkeston (see EBAY), I paid ÂŁ100 which seems fair, I assume the limp home must have been in a non standard position and trippped itself out shortly after fitting. Thanks for the advice and the old postings, a bit of digging in the past postings helps.
