SWEDEN --- Volvo Cars has presented a plan for personnel cuts that can affect thousands of jobs. The American owner Ford Motor has instructed a trimming of the company. Personnel cuts can hit Volvo Cars' Swedish operations hard, mainly in Gothenburg and Olofstrõm. On an order from Ford's headquarters in Dearborn Volvo Cars' management, with Hans-Olov Olsson at the helm, has presented a savings program. The report is well known within Volvo Cars' union organizations and has reached parts of the employees. This has been received with big disappointment and irritation. The report is making many people disappointed on how management is handling the matter. The management should stand up for Volvo Cars because the company is going well, said a source at Volvo Cars. Today Volvo Cars has 28,000 employees around the world. Most of them are located at the heavy production locations in Gothenburg and Gent, Belgium. Another Volvo source said that no decision has yet been taken and it is reasonable to assume that a decision will be made by the summer.  [/b]
