I had a test drive yesterday of a 9000 Aero for sale at Jamsaab (0117 986 9997). Having an Anniversary I expected it to go a bit quicker but not THAT quicker. It was like a 99T on steroids
.

Steering is sharper.
Suspension firmer.
Engine noise more vah, vah vrooom.
Seats snugger.

I was sorely tempted as it in my favourite colour (black) has only 88K, FSH and is in great order, but perhaps I'm getting old and like the softer, more sedate comfort of the Anniversary. Anyone else managed a comparison test?

Anyway I still have my 99T for that sort of thing.

Stop it... it was a really nice car - before I got the Anniversary I was looking for an Aero. My far better half is slowly being won round by the Anniversary, particulalrly the steering wheel, and I really do like the comfort and around 40mpg we got today from Bristol to Devizes and back. The Aero will just bring out the heavier right foot in me.

If it wasn't for taking out my 99T on Monday and enjoying the ocassion I probably wouldn't have thought any further about the Aero. For me the 99T is just more fun to throw around. The Aero is one of those 'put your foot down and enjoy warp drive' type of cars- it really is something else- BIG RESPECT

Keep the Anniversary, add stage 1

P. (owner of Anniversary + Stage 1 )

Seriously, it transformed the performance. The descriptions of the Aero's performance in this thread sound just like mine after the CU upgrade (but I haven't driven an Aero so I don't know for sure)

If your anni has the smaller turbo then I reckon it will feel like my old CD Carlsson, puffs well low down but runs out of puff further up the rev range, the Aero just keeps going faster and faster to the red line... it's quite easy to hit the rev limiter at first when you're not used to it.

Fitting a stage 1 is something I really should consider. The 2.3 LPT though fine is a little lacking in pure grunt. I guess if I did not drive a 99T I would not know what I was missing. Ignorance is bliss and suchlike

And yes I am a big fan of Jamsaab. Over the years I have been dealing with them them, I have found Martin always helpful, giving of his time even when he has jobs to do, enthusiastic and has become a very good friend.

The only other company I have time for is South West Saab who were very helpful - it was they who suggested I contacted Jamsaab as they were not too sure about the 99 - when I became disillusioned with a so called specialist in Clifton and of course the local Saab dealership. I even tried another dealership in Yate (no longer going) in the hope of finding someone with a love/understanding of this car.

And finally, Jamsaab are only a 40 minute walk from my front door, so that is an added bonus

You're not that far from me. Perhaps you should come and have a go in mine some time? Or our local Ikea is Bristol, and we need to pay that a visit some time soon...

Mine's an auto, though.

Oh no - please can we not mention IK*A in these hallowed grounds! Bring me out in a cold sweat every time I hear that word - oh, the queues, the noise, the stupid names....
Now, as for the Aero, I've had mine (actually, my wife's) since January, it's an incredible drive, and goes very fast indeed with little fuss. I've had to set the speed alarm at around 95 to stop me habitually crusing at 120-130 everywhere! Ithought my Honda Prelude VTEC would lose me my license, but at least that makes some noise, the Aero just does it quietly!

I agree, the Aero is the greatest car I have ever driven. And to think, I almost bought a 2.0 CSE!(IIRC)

The best but about my Aero is that 3rd gear will take me from 20mph to 100mph - and at that point I still have 2 gears left!! All in the best seats anyone ever made. - HAR HAR HAR!!!!
