I have a 93-55 plate Aero Convertible which has covered 30k. Whilst driving today I noticed the temp gauge was higher than normal, since I have owned the car its always sat in the middle. The car itself is not getting hot or overheating, today a technician has checked the sensor and engine heat and all is well, we have noticed when the ignition is off the temp needle is not dropping back to the bottom as it did previously so I am guessing the gauge needle is knackered  can these be reset so that it sits in the correct position or do I need a new gauge ? Any help and/or suggestions most appreciated.

Re: Temp Guage Issues

Try disconnecting the battery for half an hour or so. (Make sure the keys aren't in the car though).

Re: Temp Guage Issues

Hi Jezz,

Brilliant  worked a treat ~ Thank you so much for responding.

Interestingly the petrol gauge must have been up a bit as well as when I connected the battery backup all gauges dropped down again to normal position, I also pressed the brake pedal whilst the battery was off, my brother said it may reset the ECU possibly?

Thanks again, a big worry of my mind.
