In a nutshell, I'm swapping from one ECU with VSS to another with VSS.
I understand I need tech 2 to tranfer the old VSS code to the 'new' ECU.

Does anyone on the London S/E area have access to a tech 2 in exchange for a few beers before I take the plunge and get it done at Saab as I have a funny feeling there is not much to it once you know how.... ?

Also - I may be mistaken that I need to transfer any code - maybe all VSS ECUs are interchangeable without a reprogam. I note that when I got my ECU (its a stage3), all they needed was the ECU part and serial number - maybe there is a lookup for the VSS in there though. The issue seemed to be 'VSS or not' more than anything else.
Any experience welcome!!

1997 CSE 2.3 FPT Auto; I replaced my bad ECU with another one from a 1997 CSE and everything worked even the keyless entry/VSS. I did not have to do anything else except the actual ECU swap.

Cheers - interesting. Quite a few posts I read state that you can swap them straight over. whereas others state that you must tech 2 them. All I can do is try the new one in and if it doesnt work I'll need to get it to a tech 2.
