You should join some forums on Facebook. You will learn a lot about these cars as many experience the same problems world wide.
Many say it's not if a problem will arise but when. Seems to me most common faults are steering lock, sat nav and the twin turbo models.
I too however have an AUS specked Vector and love it. Enjoy
Have today put mine in to my SAAB garage for a software update if possible. A bit more difficult in OZ I think than your side of the world.
Only my drivers seat has given up the ghost but here in South Australia not really an issue so I am not concerned if not fixed.
Search Saab forums on Facebook. The best one is The SAAB 9.5NG owners club. You have to apply with vin number but the info you get from all over the world is amazing. It has helped me a lot over the last few years.

Returning to the car after a long drive to Littlehampton, the 9-5 would not start. On the display it says 'service steering wheel lock'. I followed the instructions in the car manual to release the lock - no difference. The lock is not on because when the car is switched off you can hear it...
