My '97 2.3 anniversary, auto ( with ACC) has developed a kind of swooshing noise from the air vents, but weirdly only when the car is cornering sharply to the right and the fan is running at relatively high speeds. ( as it is at present with this muggy weather)
Sounds like something lightweight rubbing against something else rotating at high speed. Also the rate of airflow seems to change whilst this noise is happening.
Any one else exeperienced this?

Problem is the bearings in the fan motor have failed,this allows the fan motor blades to touch the caseing when cornering and slows the fan motor.
New fan motor im afraid!!

Haven't had this problem myself but I've seen threads here where the culprit was blocked ACC drains allowing the fan to contact trapped water.

Try a search on 'aquarium'.

If you do not get a good pool of water under the car (under the windscreen area) after a drive with the aircon on, it will probably be the ACC drains.

Togg and Adrian,
you were right ..( I love this site)
It was water build up in the heater box. Quite easily fixed by removing the rubber drain grommet thingy and poking fingers into the flattened end of the drain tube. About a pint of water came out. What a relief it's not the fan bearings , didn't fancy dismantling the dash board.
