With no prior warning, when tootling along at modest speed, fully warmed up, the engine cut out. After a few minutes and a couple of abortive attempts it started again. Since the first time it has cut out again twice, but has faltered and misfired another couple of times.

The check engine signal flashes three (or perhaps 4) times.

The car is an SE 2.3turbo. It runs on gas but the problem has shown on both gas and petrol, so it doesn’t seem to be a fuel supply problem as such.

The SAAB specialist I use is also puzzled. He thinks it may be a fault with the crankcase sensor.

Any views, suggestions or comments would be very welcome.
