Hi folks
i have just ordered two steering rack gaitors and intend to put them on in a couple of weeks is ther any saabists out their who have changed them out and how big a job is it, is it suitable for diy. i have two 3 ton hydrolic jacks and axle stands etc and is ther any special tools needed for this job.

It's quite an easy job but access, especially to the driver's, side is awkward. It helps if you remove the wheel liners. Make sure the car is well supported on the axle stands and accurately measure the length between the track rod end and some point on the track rod so you can re-assemble it to the same position. I seem to remember there is a ridge on the track rod you can measure from. At the very least count the turns when unscrewing the track rod end. Best to get the steering alignment checked afterwards to be on the safe side.
