Greetings from a first-timer west of "the pond".

The phototransistor on my SCC has "gone south" leaving me with no daytime readout from the unit. Saab would have me replace the whole unit for about $450 US when the failed part is probably worth $2 or $3 US. Several folks have rigged substitutes as documented on saabnet.com, but they've all required pretty sensitive work on the circuit board or they've resulted in permanent, high intensity lights. I'm wondering if any of you folks have experienced the problem and what solutions you've come up with to solve it.

Thanks for any advice you can provide.

Welcome to Saabscene Besweder!!

That's a fairly specialist bit of advice you're after. There are one or two people around the board who could offer advice, but they're not here every day.
