Since purchasing my '97 9000 Aero (s/hand from dealership) I have extended the Saab warranty each year for fear of a wallet crippling breakdown.
However the current renewal from Saab is also wallet crippling @ £500, (+ cost of 40 point check).
Does anybody have a viable or recommended alternative?

Well dont try Warranty holdings- they have avoided paying out 4/4 times so far for me. They have dept upon dept of people who they pass you to who think of new reasons to stop paying you.

So avoid. Not cheap either- £250 for cover of a 2.3cse full turbo with auto box and aircon on 8000 miles a year

Personally, I think it's best just to save up for every eventuality. If you can't afford to do that then just keep your credit card balance well within the credit limit.

Unfortunately I tend to have to practice the latter most of the time.
