Simple one for some of you I'm sure. What determined which models got the black crumple zones on the bumpers, and those that didn't. I can't work it out. I have a 1997 CSE without. Looking in a 1995 Saab brochure, some show with, some without, with no explanation.

Anyone know?

Firstly, rest assured they all have crumple zones

The "traditional" difference was that base CS models had "natural" coloured bumpers whereas the higher spec CSE models had body colour coded inserts on the bumpers.

Aeros/Anniversaries were another story altogther

Thanks. So the black concertinered effect bumper crumple zones were on the CS , but not the CSE models. I have a 1997 CSE, with the plain coloured bumber - actually think the crumple zones look kond of good.

Erm, no, sorry not quite.

Early CS and CSE models both have the concertina section you are referring to.

Aeros and Anniversaries (which being a 97, I reckon your CSE is) did not have this feature.

Well spotted. I have a 2.3 lpt CSE anniversary 1997.
