Has anyone got a source for a cheap ipod (3.5mm jack) cable for my 9-5. 1999 saloon variation.

Been around the forums a bit and all i can find is one supplier who want 120 quid for what is essentially a cable! ( http://www.saabaux.com/ )

That is about a quarter of the market value of my car - for a ipod cable!

Anyone got any better ideas. Open to all options. I just want to play my mp3's. I haven't got a tape player and the fm transmitters are a bit fiddly for my liking.

Any ideas chaps?

67 views and not one idea?

I assume you'd all just spend 120 quid on the cdconnect cable...

thank you for your advice but both of these are FM transmitter solutions, which as I mentioned is not ideal.

I really need a cable with a 3.5mm jack that i can wire in and use the aux function on my 9-5. Have google extensively and the only solution is that Cdconnect cable which as I said is mega expensive.

close my friend, that is indeed what i am looking for but not compatible with my 9-5 (1999)...

I have honestly googled and ebayed the hell out of it. It seems i am stuffed or doing a diy cable...

"This Saab aux input adapter is compatible with the following:
  • Saab 9-3 2006 - 2009 with AUX button, or active AUX function when you press the source button.
  • Saab 9-5 2006 - 2009 with AUX button, or active AUX function when you press"

160 views and no one can help with this. Are we saying a diy cable is the only solution. Google has not been my friend thus far!

Assume so. I haven't had it out to check, but just assumed these stereos all had an aux out as a CD changer was an option when new... Have I got it wrong? Its a '99 se with CD player.
I've had a look at the owners manual for a 2000 reg 9-5 and it doesn't mention anything about at AUX port in the audio section. My suggestion would be that you look at the following link http://www.saabinfo.net/files/pdf/Saab 9-5 us 00_manual.pdf and go to page 81 to see an image of a 9-5 cd and cassette audio system. Perhaps you could get hold of one of these and use a tape cassette with a jack cable to plug in to your ipod, something i used when i had my 900 se. You can pick them up for around £10-15.

Yup - its a cd. Looks like the only solution is some DIY soldering... I'll have a look at my manual to see if I have aux out, i guess this will have to be enabled by tech2 as well...

Can anyone help? looks like I have beaten the forum!

What setup do people have in their 9-5's now.

Cannot believe there is not a single owner out there who hasn't installed a mp3 jack in their vehicle? Considering just changing the stereo out, but then that in itself might bring further complications.

Nothings ever easy...

I've been looking at this too and have been as unsuccessful. I think £120 is a bit steep for a cable but it looks like they've cornered the market! I have the AS/3 with CD and Tape and I am using a tape adapter for MP3s at the moment but I really want an integrated one, the only info I have found is a DIY jobbie that involves getting hands dirty:

I am considering buying a 2nd hand unit off ebay and giving the soldering a go.
