hi i have a saab viggen and the glove compartment door rattles. Is this a common fault and does anyone know how to fix it?

Dunno if it's a common problem with the 9-3 or not, but I had exactly the same problem develop with mine.

The good news is it's very easy and cheap to fix.

When you open the glove box door you'll see two rubber bump stops either side of the compartment. What you need to do is carefully pull them out and pop down to B & Q to get some thin rubber washers pack them out.

When done, you'll see that as the door shuts it'll make contact with the now raised bumps and stop the rattle

I have a similar problem with mine - except it won't shut.
The RHS (Nearest the driver) just falls back open every time I slam it shut. It's already cost me a flat battery one Monday morning. I suppose it must be a sprained hinge.
I've already tried cutting a larger hole for the catch to no avail.
Anyone any bright ideas?

I thought the light only went on if you had the side lights or headlights on? Works that way in my 900, but 9-3 may be different.

One thing with the rattle that is very common on 900 & 9-3. When you shut the lid it tends to shut on the left catch only, then it rattles. You need to ensure it closes on both catches, sometimes meaning you need to slam it shut.
