Hi, my local Saab Dealer has quit & closed (Swain & Jones Farnham) My nearest Saab is now Ian Allen Motors in Lightwater or Bell & Colvill near West Horsley - Near Leatherhead.

My question is this. Is there any other saab dealers / independants around that offer good customer service and dont charge an arm or a leg in service costs?

I am located on the borders of Hampshire / Surrey and would be prepared to travel a little further afield for the right price /service.

Many thanks in advance

If Leatherhead isn't too far, Carlsson Saab of Ryebrook Rd, Leatherhead, Surrey KT22 7QG (01372 370366) have looked after both my previous 9-5 and my current 9-3 for a few years. I've always found them very competent, pleasant to deal with and their hourly rate is probably half a main dealer's. They also have a couple of elderly but solid 9000's as loaners, which can be useful.

They were my local main dealer as well, although I never used them except for Saab-exclusive spares. On the rare occasions I have needed to use a specialist garage, I have taken my car to Saabtech in Stevenage - not so far round the M25. I never used any independents in the area, although there are one or two. Try a forum search on North Motor Company or similar near Alresford on Hampshire, I haven't used them but I have seen comments saying they are OK.

Same position as Mike. S&W were my local dealer. For the past few years I have been using Saabtech. I do my own servicing and am quite handy on the tools but anything out of the ordinary i find it worthwhile to go to Stevenage. I cannot praise them enough. Their rates are less than half main dealer and they are brilliant on diagnostics. They also have coutesy cars. The last one i borrowed was a 9-3 convertible complete with lipstick in the glovebox. Nice touch but it was't my colour!

Just thought i'd add that I spoke to Tim? @ Carlsson Saab during the week just to get an idea of servicing and prices for a 9-3 Aero SS. He sounded like a nice chap who had the time to speak for me. Their hourly rates are much better than a dealer as are their service prices.

Once we find a 9-3 Aero I won't hesitate to pop over there and borrow one of the elderly 9000's and leave my car for servicing.

Hmm, not sure - a bit glossy & expensive for my tastes. Turners Hill Garage are more like a local friendly garage. Mind you, S&J did have a cracking looking receptionist years ago, who also happened to be a fully trained Saab mechanic, so you could have a sensible conversation with her..... ;)[/b]
:D

I know exactly the gilr you're talking about - think I mentioned her in a few posts previously ;)

They were glossy and expensive but it was very handy having them in town centre knowing that I could quickly nip in, leave the car there or ask a question - and be on my merry way. Maybe even walk home or to work if needs be :D

I would interested to compRe prices As I think a dealer service at £249 is not bad at all and a free loaner car for the day.

I paid just shy of 400 quid for a timing belt at Carlson in leather head and my local Garrage wanted £220 plus vat so was a no brainer for me Ian Allen are good with the personal side of things
