Looking for some help as to why my back brakes keep squealing.

93 Convertible 2.0t Auto with 126k on clock - had the rear brake discs and pads replaced about 8k ago because of wear and squeal. After very short period, they started to squeal again. Had them cleaned without remoaval - OK for a few days and then started again. then stripped, cleaned and rebuilt. OK for a week or so, then.........

I sound like a bus when stopping.

Discs all look to be wearing cleanly and evenly.

My wife has a 95 Auto which recently had rears replaced too (at a different garage so not down to poor workmanship (unless they're both poor!)) and seem to be hinting at squealing too. This one had the handbrake pads replaced too.

Is there something I should try, other than just replacing the lot again?

Can't see it's how we drive, or any contaminants we encounter. Both cars driven relatively lightly, but not so lightly the rears don't engage much, which I know can be an issue with possible binding.

Love the car, but if it keeps on squealing don't think I can ever drop roof for embarrassment.............

New Pads. Gallons of copper grease. Old ones seemed overly worn for time they've been in. Sticky piston?

No squeal for a day!

Now sounds like I'm dragging a cat with me everytime I brake.

AAAAAARGH.

Do I replace calipers/pistons and hope that the expense solves the problem?........Hmmmm......
