What type is needed? The Haynes comic sez "Saab or GM type". Can I source it from a factor? My usual factor was totally clueless about what type I needed

I've got gallons of red ATF type 2 fluid for a Ford PAS system, but I know that lots of systems won't take that.

Thanks!

I haven't found a substitute yet. I don't think i will as the fluid i bought from saab for my 900 was clear. The 9000 is listed the same - i've not needed to top it up yet . I paid £15 for a 1L bottle - not cheap .

Yep you should really use the recommended PAS fluid as a Saab specialist told me the seals are not compatable with the more usual PAS fluids. Fluid is expensive thats why a couple of years ago a number of us (on the Saabec e-mail list which I no longer subscribe to) got something like 50L from Texeco? for a few pounds a litre - I got 4L or 8L still got it in the garage. Might be worth people on here doing the same.

Here are the details......

Texaco 4634 fluid.

This is a specific product only for SAAB vehicles and as a result the demand in the typical garage is not that great. Our regular PSF grades do
not carry the required SAAB approval. My advice is still to visit a SAAB dealer where you will be able to purchase this product in retail sizes
alternatively you can purchase 25litres direct from ourselves.
