I have been short term donated a 94 Saab 9000 CSE. The car is supposed to overheat but after several road tests I can only get a reading of just above half way, to maybe three quarters up the gauge. Where do they run normaly and when giving it some? it is a 2000 none turbo.

I have a 94 cse 2.3 eco it always runs with the needle half way in 3rd 4th and 5th but in 1st 2nd and at idle it runs with the needle over half way and sometimes near the red, my mechanic can find no problem causing it so i have taken it as normal hope that helps.

Stephen A is on the mark-

If the fans come on, the engine will be cooling down. Normal for a Saab 9000, by my experience, is 1/2 to 3/4 on moderate temp days to hot days with the A/C on.

My old 900's would run the same. Until you get used to this, it sometimes concerns most drivers.
