Whilst I was swapping round the ABS relays I had a quick look under the K reg as it leaks a bit of oil. Seems to be two places that are "damp" but only one that seemed to have an actual drip on it and thats the Oil Level sensor in the sump. I guess the gasket has gone porous. Haynes tells you in the section on removing the sump to disconnect the sensor and then "unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the sensor from the sump. Recover the gasket".

Is it really as easy as that? has anyone replaced the gasket or sensor?

Cheers

Thanks for that Andrew. I'll get it done next time it gets a change... at the moment it just keeps leaving tiny puddles on the road (and for some odd reason the level on the dipstick doesn't go down!).

I have just recently replaced the O-ring on my oil level sender as I was losing 1 litre a month. I couldn't work out where it was coming from to start with, and thought it was the front crank seal.

Cleaned the engine up, replaced the seal and then realised it was leaking from the oil level sensor.

It's not cheap replacing 1L month of Mobil 1!

Now it's not leaking, I wish I'd done it sooner.
