Very helpful, thanks. The light doesn't come on when driving now, but 6 flashes when ignition is on indicates a troubled Lambda sensor. Does this mean it needs replacing immediately? Surely if it was that urgent I would have the CHECK ENGINE light on constantly?

Mine did exactly that twice before I got the Lambda probe changed, each time it happend I had the car at altitude >2400m, Ferench Alps, in your case I think that, but please someone correct me if I am wrong, the fault is no longer occuring but has been logged and will continue to flash like that until it gets cleared by someone with the Tech II kit.

I wouldn't worry too much about the 'check engine'
lights coming on unless

1) It's running rough
2) Overheating
3) low oil/ coolant etc.

I've had problems with mine and it was due to a duff connection.
Sometimes things are more trouble than they are worth.
