I recently purchased a 1993 Saab 9000 CSE turbo. I bought the car on Saturday and the clutch lasted till Monday night. Is this a reoccuring theme or did I just get one on its way out. Any advise if I can fix it myself or if its best to et a pro look @ it? Any help would be greatly apreciated

Saab clutches are very tough (150k is not uncommon) It is more often the gearbox that goes first!
As for DIY or a specialist, give a few a call & post what kind of $ they are asking.

Welcome Biggeh,

Sure its the clutch and maybe not the hydraulic line from master to slave cylinder - way more common fault (pedal to floor with no clutch engagement). Check for wetness at flexi section - follow solid hydraulic line from clutch bell housing up and back until you come to the flexi section. if it is this then several fixes avaialable - If you can manage a couple of spanners and be able to bleed a hydraulic system (same as bleeding the brakes) then I suggest you do it yourself. remove old hydraulic line and take it to auto shop who can fabricate a complete solid line - no more flexi failures. Or get genuine saab part and do straight replacement.

then again, you may have an auto, in which case my drivel above was to no purpose (also assuming N American clutch setup is same as Euro).

It seems the problem is not simple AS USUAL! Tow truck en route to bring it to a mechanic

Did you buy it from a car dealer? I don't know about the USA but here in the UK if it was from a dealer (and even from a private sale in that space of time) you would be able to claim against them as the car was not fit for it's purpose.

I bought it from a person and he has offered me a % of the cost, not sure if I am going to accept it yet

He did say the clutch was near perfect in his ad

Oh well mechanic called clutch is fixed
