hi all, I actually drive a 9-3 but my brother is thinking to buy a used MY97 9000 Aero, with 67K miles on it. I told him to spend a bit more and get a used 9-5 because he'd spend too much on maintaining the 9000, but he doesn't want to listen. Anyone have an opinion? Thanks!

Tell him to go for the Aero,@67000 miles it is not yet run in,a mere baby,The 9000 is not expensive untill things go wrong, and at that mileage and with good maintainence there is many years of good motoring to come, but you will be jealous,of that I am sure.

Oooh, go on, just buy the Aero....

Then again I could be biased...owning a '94 Aero with a few choice modifications

Seriously though, early 9-5's are potential trouble, my local specialist wouldn't touch them in regards to selling them as they are like boomarangs with warranty problems.(Many and varied)

HTH.

The guy I bought my 9000 aero from had bought a new 95 aero about a month before selling the 9000.He was a bloke who knew and liked his cars and he reckoned that the 9000 was a lot more fun than the 95 which he said felt sterile. Depends what you want but opinion is that the 9000 aero is much more of a drivers car.
had mine 7 months now and love it every time I get in it and drive.
Biased, but buy the 9000.
Also, in RHD form, you can be happy in the pleasure that only about 900 were built!!

Definately get the 9000 Aero - for the same money you'd be talking a 2.0LPT 9-5 which would be no where near as much fun.

Being low mileage, the 9000 would (IMO) hold its value better than a bog standard 9-5.

Get him to drive both....

The guy who sold me my 9000 2.3T (modified, quicker than an Aero) then bought a Lotus Carlton. He had that about a year, found out than the LOTUS acronym was true (£6,500 for an engine rebuild ouch!
) then bought a 9-5, had the full Hirsch treatment on it but still reckoned that the 9000 was the best drivers car out of the lot of them when I saw him afterwards...

Surprisingly i would go for a 9000 Aero.

I've driven a much modified 9-5 and it went like the wind aswell.

It kind of comes down to pennies. You could get a 9000 for a small % of what the 9-5 costs.

I like my 175,000 mile Aero very much.

Good luck
