My much adored 2006 9-3 Convertible (3.0 Aero, manual with Hirsch upgrades) has failed her MOT due to 2 x suspension component mountings corroded and rear sub frame and inner wheel arches corroded. Shock absorbers also need replacing. Everything else works on her as I have chucked money at her to a main dealer to keep her in tip top order and she runs like a dream. Question is this. Is it worth the money to have all of the welding done and the wheel arches dealt with (I have no idea of the cost at this stage but am assuming in excess of £1k) or is it time to bite the bullet and replace her. Bearing in mind I want the same car and I understand that they are now quite rare, my thought would be to cough up the dosh but I would appreciate other opinions as to whether or not its worth the expense. All comment and observation greatly appreciated.
