Hey Deano93tid,

I am looking to upgrade my audio system too and have had a look around on fleabay.....I used to use Alpine kit a while back in my cars....are these any good for replacing the dash speakers in a 9-3??? Or is it a case of what you pay and go with the JL's??

Well a lot of the parts are the same throughout the models so it would have been daft and odd for Saab to have made a door card for the poor stereos with no speaker grills etc.

I too can't believe it so poor but then to be fair I would rather it be poor and the rest be great rather than sitting in a horrible place with an ok stereo, so many new cars now all have very good for factory units installed a friend of mine has an Ibiza on an 11 plate I think could be 12 :s and the stereo in that is unreal and bog standard hatch.
Thanks Deano, I've reserved one of these - will this do -

Seems cheap as chips at the moment. They've also got a monoblock for £50 with £100 off!
It will do for sure it is 4 channel though so it will be quite large and possibly difficult to mount out of sight the vibe black box 2 which I have fits just on where the GPS receiver would have been mounted.

The 4 channel will also require two lots of inputs FR+FL, RL+RR.

It has a 2 channel mode too so you can run it either way for that price you can't really go wrong.

Will also come with a hi-level adapter so you can wire it in from the rear speaker cables that would be connected the the 4" shelf speakers, you have a power kit too right?

If not I would recommend a 4 or 8 gauge power kit 8 minimum 4 would be better -

Jesus that's cheap! So much for selling the one I've got for profit. Guess I'll just have to get under seat subs hooked up :D
Thanks Deano - it is quiet large but I'm thinking of mounting it upside down bolted onto the rear shelf frame (boot side). I've also got a power kit - think it's 4 gauge. There's a switch on it to change to 2 channel so am I right in saying I only need to take the feeds from the rears to do this?

Do I also take the feed from the input cable that goes to the Saab amp or should I take the feed from the output cables from the saab amp that's going to the speakers? I've fitted amps before but confused about where I take the inputs from.

By the way, do these Amps get hot? Should I mount on a heat sync - something like a metal sheet or MDF? Dont really want to do this as I want simple as possible.

And yes £50 was a steal for this amp - brand new & boxed as well.

Thanks for your help!

Yes only one rear feed to run in 2 channel mode.
That is how I have mounted mine and mine is a Vibe Black box 2 channel amp and it just fits so 4 channel might be slightly too big.
This is mine mounted - http://www.saabscene.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=1020&d=1340452816
The other end cap had not been put on at the point of the pic being taken as the controls are that side.

Right for ease of fitting take the high level from the speaker cables you remove for the rears and connect into the hi level input on the amp it will come with a special connector that clips in to do this.
You don't need to take a feed directly from the head unit because it does not have Low level outputs (RCA's).

Mine is running upside down so in theory the heat is going back on to the board rather than escaping as it should but I like yourself run only 6x9's from it not a power hungry sub and it has been fine I would say to look down the heat sink road if you were going to put a 15" sub on it in bridged mode but running the 6x9's it will be fine.

Yes bargain!! I paid £200 or so for my black box 2 with a slick 12" sub and wiring kit back in 2009 which I thought to be a good buy. Sold that sub and brought a Vibe black air 12" active sub, sold that and brought the same one but twin 12" :D

Thanks for your help!
No problem at all :)

Most amps the pcb (circuit board) is mounted the the top of the amp so when you want to work on the amp you just take the bottom off
