Overtaken by a black one of those on the A1 yesterday (I wasn't trying ) Did a double take, assumed the badge was "55" at first, but it wasn't.

Having driven both the V12 S600 and V8 CL500 (not AMG versions) with normally aspirated engines all I can say is these machines will fly!

Great engineering, stupidly powerful but at £95K it's hideously expensive. For that I could have a Saab 9-5 Aero an Ultima GTR and some spare change.

I drove an SL600 twin turbo the other week, perc of being a tech in a merc dealer, it's quick, but I didn't like the way the car kept boosting after coming off the throttle. I found you booted it and backed off and it kept boosting, could cause an accident if you're not careful. Reminded me of what Saab got a slating for by the press when they first started turboing, big lag - the merc has it - and that when it goes it's manic.

It was good fun to drive, but licence losing.
