Hi Saab Newbie here

Yesterday I had the 72,000 mile service completed on my 2006 9-3 SportWagon TiD.
This morning on the way to work I had the warning "Battery not charging etc. etc" plus baterry light. Immediate thoughts - alternator problem.

I have seen all the alternator problems people get in this Forum , but my question is - does anyone know if the 72,000 mile service involves disturbing the alternator in any way? do they have to touch the alternator / belt when replacing the Timing belt for instance ? useful info for when I go back to the garage and start wingeing

I am wondering if it is a case that the Technician hasn't replaced something correctly, or am I just the victim of a cruel coincidence and the alternator starts to pack in the day after a major service ?

Cheers

Cheers for that.
I went back to the garage and he confirmed that the alternator belt is removed during the service.

However he said it is "very, very unlikely" that this problem is caused by the alternator belt and it is indicating that the alternator has failed.

Looks like it is a nasty coincidence
