Further to my pre-christmas panic I've now identified the problem with my turbo. The wastegate actuator rod has crumbled and fallen off. I've removed it now with a bit of skint-knuckle-universal-joint-swearing technique. (took me three months to get round to it) I spoke to Westcars, Glasgow who said there are many different parts listed ( they call it a preassure regulator)then said they had all been superceded by one part number, which sounds a bit odd.Cost £187 +vat. Independant specialist in Fife quoted £60-£80 but I need to identify which actuator I've got. there are different spring rates, rod length etc. depending on model and spec. I can't see any numbers on the turbo and the actuator is so corroded it's impossible to see if anything is stamped on it. Turbo specialist says there should be a number stamped on the end of the actuator opposite the rod. Car is a '93, 2.0l, 9000CS LPT, ecopower. I want a standard part, in case anything different upsets my LPG fuelling.
Can anyone help me to identify which actuator I need?

AFAIK what you need is a "standard" T2 actuator. Tell them you want to run a base boost pressure of about 0.4 bar or 6psi.

The only difficulty may come on the thread on the shaft... I found my aftermarket actuator had a different thread on than the original, (IIRC one was 1/4" or 0BA, the other 6mm). I also had to shorten the actuator rod and (then) extend the threading on the rod. You need a rod length of about 120mm max and the rod should be straight.

I'll pass this info on to MV Turbos in Fife.
Only problem I've got is that the end of the rod has corroded away, leaving a rusty point about 50mm from the actuator body. The other end , with the eye, has presumably just fallen off although I've just realised this shouldn't happen , it should be attached to the wastegate somehow? I'm guessing with maybe a circli[p or r-pin? How is the eye attached to the wastegate? I can see no sign from looking at the wastegate arm thing. Sorry for my abscence PC was off-line.
