Regulars will appreciate that I have had an ongoing suspicion-of /problem-with low boost
Car =Stage 1 2.3 lpt N reg 9000
Ok - since fitment of the upgrade the following faults (not related to the upgrade!) have occurred and been rectified
A couple of severe exhaust blows have been fixed/ deteriorated/and new boxes eventually fitted
New DI Cassette fitted increasingly to cure intrusive misfire
Vacuum hoses replaced - old ones carbonating
Each time performance has dropped off - I have removed fuses done adaption runs etc. -this has restored some performance but it never seems to have got anywhere near where it was when the upgrade was fitted (Wheelspin at low rpm in second) (A month or so after fitment boost was getting high enough to cause fuel cut-off a couple of times.)
I have no diagnostic kit so have relied on my local non franchised specialists - when I fitted the upgrade they took it for a run and concurred that the performance was aero-like.
Since then they have checked at various times
base boost - ok at .4bar
No fault codes on service
no leaks
Wastegate connected/ adjusted/ working ok
Blow off valve ok
Today I called in at a local rolling road/turbo specialist.
They took the car for a spin and said it felt underpowered for what it should be.
They connected a gauge and took it for another run with me reading the gauge - max boost was 7.5 psi.
I left the car with them for a couple of hours - I am not sure what they did exactly but their report to me was
Max boost with everything connected as it should be =7.5 psi (as per lpt?)
With wastegate disconnected (I do not know exactly how they did this -physically or by removing hose?) max boost =15psi therefor the turbo itself is ok
From this they concluded that the fault appears to be in the turbo boost control signal to the solenoid valve- probably software.
Not being SAAB experts they were unwilling to go beyond this point.
Plugs are correct - fairly new and recently correctly gapped.
I have checked security of hoses and electric connections ..............
Please help me get my
back
any ideas where to start.
Cheers
Alyn
