I think I've found out why occassionlly I loose all my header tank / dump loads of water.

Yesterday it did it again, and after some poking around I noticed that the bottom radiatorhose was only just on (end of hose on raised bump)

Checked jubilee clip and is spun around even though it looked tight. It was rusted through.

I pushed the hose back on and have fitted a new jubilee clip today.

Just as well it didn't do it somewhere expensive.

Lucky Andrew - I'd check your other hoses clips.

Last year after replacing the antifreeze in my 900T16S I forgot to tighten the rad bottom hose Did about 100miles before it popped off just as I pulled into Sainsburys, water and steam everywhere. The upmarket shoppers there looked very disapprovingly at me
Still car got treated to finest spring water, well 5Ls, I then went back in and filled up with tap water.
