Hi,

I'm thinking of buying a 93 9000 CDE for $3,500 USD. As the title said it has 116,000 miles and it's a 2.3 four cylinder. Will this be a good reliable daily driver car? I'm hoping to drive it for 2 or 3 years at the very least. What kind of maintanence issues may I come across, and is there anything in particular I should look out for when I inspect the car? Thanks for your help.

)No idea about stateside prices, but this seems a little expensive?
As far as the mileage, I bought a 1989 2.3i, with 117k on the clock. In 18 months I put 30+k miles on, with just a new exhaust downpipe needed (plus pads and oil changes).
Most people say at 100k saabs have only just broken in.......(and broken the previous owner.... )

Is it an auto or manual transmission? Turbo, I presume? Some people would be wary of a 2.3T auto at that mileage because of potential transmission problems. Possibly due to lack of support for the marque, many US Saabs don't seem to get the proper maintenance that is more common in the UK and Europe. A full service history, especially by a Saab dealer or independent Saab specialist should instill some confidence.

Having said that, I bought my father a 2.0 light-pressure turbo auto with 100K miles on it last year.

I fit's an auto, check that the transmission shifts smoothly and not too early or too late.

I bought my 2.3 Auto with 230K miles on the clock last year. I've now added 15k to that. And stil going strong. Only things needed changen where oil, brakes, and two springs in the gear box.

Dont forget to check those all important Timing/balance chains,if they've been done,cool.
If not they start to rattle about this milage,but saying that my current ones on 143K & has been rattling for the last couple of K (just cant find the time

)).

Mine has just started to rattle a while back and she's now on 167k.
