Each time I reverse my car off the drive in the morning, on letting the clutch out, the pedal comes up to its normal position but the clutch does not engage much, then fully engages. The car then leaps back. This has been getting worse and worse in the morning. The clutch is like this for 2 or 3 corners then drives normally for the rest of the day.

Is the clutch just about to give up, or will it be like this for months or until it is replaced.

Sounds like the clutch plate is binding on the splines. After heavy use and lots of miles there may be a step worn in them as well as oily gunge everywhere. After a bit the oil warms and things slide again. Also springs could be a bit weak.
